Instant Star: Greatest Hits Remix/New Tracks Review!
It’s been a few days since the Instant Star: Greatest Hits album was made available to the public. First off, let me just say that this is a great album and a must have for the Instant Star and Alexz Johnson fans. What makes this a must have? It features three remixes as well as two unreleased tracks by Alexz.
1.) Temporary Insanity (Remix)- This is truly one of the greater remixes on the album. The song has developed a more rock edge with vocals that have become increasingly more powerful than the original version. More drums, guitars and backing vocals improve “Temporary Insanity” with a great driving musical force. Rating: 9/10
2.) Liar Liar (Remix)- As the original Liar Liar focused mainly on a higher, lighter piano key; the remix is dedicated to a darker-like theme. With a lower key on piano, this track really reaches into the soul. It’s a gorgeous piano ballad full of driving lyrics that paint a haunting picture. More drums and synth’s help pick up the tempo during the bridge leading into a gorgeous chorus. Rating: 9/10
10.) I Will Be The Flame (Cory Lee & Alexz Johnson Duet)- This is an up-tempo pop track. Cory Lee brings in a fierce pop vocal, while Alexz delivers a great pop/rock vocal vibe. These two women can bring the heat with their vocal battling throughout the song. This is another great track and a real nice addition to the Instant Star collection. It’s fueled with a R&B/Pop backing track that makes this a fun song to sing along with. Rating: 8/10
11.) Perfect – This was originally released through Valerie Poxleitner (A.K.A. Lights) on the Instant Star Season 4 Soundtrack. While Valerie definitely brings a lot of talent to the song, Alexz seems to bring so much more. Her vocals are masterful and controlled very well. The track contains more trumpets and throws a little electric guitar into the mix. The track also rings out a very Beatles-type musical vibe. The vocal notes towards the ending really bring you to a better understanding of the songs meaning. Rating: 10/10
12.) I Just Wanted Your Love – The final piece to the Instant Star puzzle. “I Just Wanted Your Love” is a pop/rock track with up-tempo drum beats, high-octane electric guitars and powerful vocals. This is a great song for the final track spot on the album; as it leaves off with an up-beat, rocking, high energy send-off to a beloved series. It’s fun, energetic and definitely what Instant Star is all about. Rating: 10/10
